Although it was minus 10 degrees most of the days, it was sunny. So don’t expect to see any photo’s of parcs, because I didn’t visit any. Brrr.

Meatpacking district is after ten years still thriving. After six when the offices start to run empty the show starts here. Fashionista’s from all across town parade around here. This is also the home of the Highline, a park on top of an old track.

Of course the Bookshop of Palais the Tokyo is also a warm welcome if you like artsy-fartsy book in the good sense. (the photo’s of the nice little street from the 1st part of this paris blog are made across the street from the Lazy Dog)

For a nice drink you can go to the Hotel du Nord, situated next to the Canal St. Martin. Great atmosphere, good looking people. (there is also a funny little vintage store a couple of doors down the same street)

The best way to go around town is by bike. This way you’ll understand the city better and you’ll see a lot of nice things you wouldn’t see, underground. You can rent them by using your credit card, pay a deposit of € 150 euro’s and you get a ticket that you use to take a bike. You can also stall it on a lot of locations throughout the city, so you’ll never have to lock it!

Colorful and Brutal, the Centre Pompidou, pay a visit, you’ll be surprised by it’s fantastic collection of modern art. Also the restaurant ‘Georges’ on the top floor is fantastic, with a great view over the old rooftops and the Eiffel tower.

Ok, I still consider pigeons as ‘rats with wings’ but at least they seem to wash themselves.

Ok, the end of my Paris post, but i’m not leaving before posting two of my favorite facades. The Comme des Garcons perfume store and the Green Facade of the Museum Quai Branly by Francois Eduard.

There are so many nice things. Rotterdam could learn something from Paris. Paris cherishes it’s river, embraces it even. It allows people to use the quais and made them more inviting to do so. We saw little amphitheatres next to the water build into the quai with people dancing in them. Folk dancing, Salsa, and more, every genre seemed to have it’s own little theater. It made us so happy to see this happening.

Romantic parcs where people relax and can get educated about different kinds of plants. One of my favorite parcs is Parc de Bercy, in the 12the arrondisement. It has a great mix of usable and romantic parts. With one of Frank O. Gehry’s older buildings on one side and the river Seine on the other. It’s perfect to take a pique nique in the middle of the flowers and humming bees.

And of course, don’t forget to walk into those cute little sidestreets, because you’ll never know what you will come across.
